About Modern Out

Our mission and when we started.

Modern Out is a jewelry company based around mostly musculine designs that started in October of 2012. 

MODERN OUT - A modernist brand that believes in modern day qualities while featuring a modern aesthetic.

Modern Out has teamed up with Rice Bowls (starting March 2020) and will donate one meal for every item sold to an orphaned child in need.

We have also teamed up with Project Aware and will donate 25% of all Shark Tooth necklace profits to help keep clean water for our sharks.

Shipping policy

Understand our shipping policies and production times.

We ship worldwide from Louisiana, USA.

Please be aware that international orders may have duty/tax fees when picking up your package. To check, use this duty calculator here.

All of our products are made to order. All orders will take 1 to 3 business days to process before shipping them out. Orders during any gift giving holiday like Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc. will take around 5 to 7 business days to process before shipping them out. Weekends are not considered business days.

Domestic shipping

First class - 3 to 10 business days 

Priority shipping - 2 to 3 business days

International shipping

First class - 1 to 6 weeks - depending on your countries location and customs

Priority shipping - we currently do not support priority international

Once your package ships you will receive an email with your tracking information. Please wait 24 hours for the tracking to update.

If your package shows "delivered" in the tracking but hasn't shown up yet then please wait a few days after the initial delivery date - sometimes it's just a miss scan. Make sure you have given the correct address at checkout. If the package still hasn't shown up, please check with all household members and neighbors. If you still cannot find the package you will need to call your main post office with your tracking information so they can locate the GPS coordinates of your "delivery" scan. If it was at your address, then you may have been a victim of mail theft. You then will need to file a stolen mail report at your post office and also file a police report so they will know there is mail theft in your area. We are not responsible for mail once it shows "delivered." This is now in the hands of the United States Postal Service and their insurance guidelines. 

Returns and exchanges

To return your purchase to our warehouse, please note:

All personalized items cannot be returned (they are made only for you and cannot be resold).

All custom length necklaces cannot be returned (they are made only for you to the specific length you requested).

All earrings cannot be returned due to hygiene laws.

Sale items are final and cannot be returned / exchanged.

Now that that's out of the way lets get to your qualifying return:

Item(s) must be in the original condition (not broken, no water damage, etc.).

Returns must be in the mail within 14 days of original "delivered" date.

Item(s) must be returned with original black gift box ($3 fee if not).

Return must include an order # so we can refund the correct customer (you can find the order # in the emailed invoice - or use original invoice).

By sending your return you agree to the above. We have the right to reject any return that does not follow the above instructions.

Yes, please cancel right after you order. Depending on the time of year, your order may start it's crafting stage on the same day of purchase. Once crafting has begun, your order cannot be canceled and will be shipped out on schedule.

All of our items have a lifetime warranty. We’re pretty stringent with our quality control, but occasionally something might slip through the cracks. If your product is faulty, or we sent you an incorrect order by mistake, send it back to us for a replacement or a full refund. Our warranty also covers any accidental breakage that may occur. We take pride in our handcrafted items and triple check the quality and strength before it leaves our doors. But, we are aware that mistakes and accidents happen - babies pull on necklaces, bracelets get caught on things, and so on. Please contact us to file a warranty claim.

Our warranty does not cover water damage. We have it listed in multiple places (product listings, invoices, policies, and even a jewelry care card with every order) that all jewelry must be kept dry. Sweat and oily/acidic skin can also damage plated metals which is out of our control.

If you are experiencing any rare breakage towards your purchase please contact us to let us know. Please have a photo ready of your item so your warranty claim can go through. We will be happy to help you.

All product listings will inform you of the metal, fabric, etc. that they are made of. We are not responsible for metal allergies.

Overall we prefer you to not bathe or swim with our products on for longer lasting quality. Anything "plated" or leather should never be around water. Stainless steel and titanium components are okay. 

It is important to us that our products maintain their quality throughout the years. Clean your Modern Out products as often as needed using a polishing cloth to reduce tarnishing in order to ensure that your item is kept in it's best condition.

Due to the nature of raw brass, bronze, and copper used for our chains and other components, you may see slight variations in the color on particular styles. Keep in mind that due to the personal pH levels of an individual’s skin, jewelry may tarnish more quickly for some than for others. This is out of our control.

Aluminum is the lightest material we use, but it doesn’t sacrifice on strength. This particular aluminum alloy has an excellent strength to density ratio—it’s the same alloy used in transportation applications, lacrosse sticks, camping utensils, and anything else that needs to be lightweight yet strong. It’s also shiny and playful and tarnish resistant.

Stainless Steel is popular for it’s high strength and corrosion resistance. Stainless steel feels substantial in your hand and around your neck. It’s softer than titanium and aluminum, but still virtually indestructible. Stainless steel is hypoalerginc which is great for those who have sensitive skin.

Brass is bright and attractive, and even more than stainless steel, it carries a substantial heft. Brass is our favorite metal to play with and has long been a popular metal due to its workability and durability. It’s been used since prehistory—the Roman period saw intentional production of brass via cementation of metallic copper and zinc. It’s a majestic, even monumental, metal. We polish each brass product until it glows before it leaves our workshop, and it develops an attractive patina over time.

Titanium is one of the most expensive metal that we use for our products. It feels magically light, but it’s incredibly hard—twice as hard as aluminum. In fact, it has the highest strength-to-density ratio of all known metals. It’s completely corrosion resistant, and has excellent biocompatibility, making it essential for surgical applications. It’s a magnificent, lustrous, metal and even more hypoallergenic than stainless steel.
